Quitting Smoking Linked to Improved Mood

An interesting finding – that people who successfully quit smoking experience an uplift in mood equivalent to taking anti-depressants. Thinking psychodynamically I would put it down to a boost in ego cohesion as a result of redirecting libido that had been tied up in smoking.
